FAQ
How to Calculate Angles
For a single-turn 4096-count encoder:
One full rotation of the encoder equals 360°, so each step represents 360° / 4096 ≈ 0.088°. If the difference between two encoder readings is 1000 steps, the corresponding angle difference is 360° / 4096 * 1000 ≈ 87.899°.
How to Calculate Speed
For a single-turn 2000-count encoder:
One full rotation of the encoder equals 360°, and it outputs 2000 pulses. If the encoder outputs 1000 pulses in 10 ms, the corresponding speed is calculated as 1000 / 2000 * 1000 * 60 / 10^3 ≈ 3000 RPM.
Additionally, we also support directly reading the encoder’s speed value.
How to Calculate Position Value for a Multi-Turn Encoder
Assuming the encoder resolution is 12-bit multi-turn / 13-bit single-turn, and the encoder outputs a current position value of 16300:
The current number of turns is 16300 / 8192 = 19 (rounded down, using INT or TRUNC function in Excel).
The single-turn value is 16300 – 19 * 8192 = 7352.
